Heat-waving

I should be trying to write something, instead I am listening to Beethoven and eating strawberries.

England’s in the middle of a heatwave, sky echoing blue, sun searing and I’ve spent the weekend in gardens and parks and am freckly, sleepy and not capable of deep thought.

It’s different here in sunshine, people smile, talk to strangers, drink Pimms, sunbathe on patches of grass the size of postage stamps listening to hiphop and humming bees……it’s a good place to be.

So no writing tonight, I’m going to read and have a glass of very cold white wine.

Sounds utterly delightful. I love the way the Brits never take a beautiful sunny day for granted.

    And Pims, I haven’t had a Pims in years…

Sounds wonderful! Maybe that too is what I should do in this time of difficulty!

it becomes difficult to write about life if one doesn’t take the time to actually live some of it.

This sounds so very idyllic and comfortable, like a Monet painting–is it Monet who painted Sunday Afternoon in the Park??? Only a more modern version, of course–no bustles!

Thanks guys. Hello Victoria. You’re bang on, Ozy. Yes, I think so, Pepek.

I remember walking along the beach at Lyme Regis one English summer, hunching my body against the biting breeze and watching dark clouds scud menacingly above. People sat topless on the beach and ate iccreams. Ah, summer, they seemed to sigh…

Sounds so good. Here in northern Minnesota I am still wearing mittens and my heavy winter jacket though I did manage to catch the bloodroot blooming on the hiking trail. Now, if only the buds on the trees would start to unfurl.

An excellent idea, a cool, natural tone this slice of prose.
