Music meme
Mariacristina had this meme up and as I love music, I wanted to play along.
Think of THE song that most inspires you to write, whether it gives you an idea for a story, script or just puts you into a better frame of mind AND/OR peek into the lyrics and find a verse that sums up the theme of whatever project it is you’re working on. If possible, post a video of the song to convey to readers the full context of the song and the mood it puts you into. Finally, send the assignment to five other writers to do as well.
Like her, I can’t do it to the letter, but I will put up the three tracks which I listen to when I’m writing, and when inspiration is low, they usually work.
The Doors: Touch Me……there will never be another band to touch them. And the lyrics, perfect poetry, I’m gonna love you, till the heavens stop the rain, I’m gonna love you till the stars fall from the sky for you and I.
The Stone Roses: I am the Resurrection, sorry no decent movie for this, but it is the best song ever made in my ever so humble opinion. It needs to be full blast.
Razorlight: Somewhere Else
There’s lots of other stuff I listen to, most all of it indie, though I do love opera, classical, but these three are my motivators. If you want to play along, go for it.

Gasp! Lissa may post two days in a row, uh oh, haha, did you know The Doors had no bass player, that’s Ray manzarek playing the driving bass with his feet on the pedals while do the frilly bits with his right hand and holding the structure together with his left, now that’s what I call a fullbody musician, mazing,

RE: the doors–I grew up then, played their songs in bands–have their albums–paul is right –no bass during live gigs–BUT used them on their studio albums–in fact used several–they are listed on the albums. Ray did play the bass part with his left hand on a fender rhoades–I believe.
I listen the carpenters when writing..
just kidding

Jim Morrison is a rock god, isn’t he? I’ve never heard of Razorlight, but that’s no surprise. I usually hear about newer music from my sons who, like you, like indie and alternative music. My oldest is going to a Radiohead concert tonight (on a school night, when he has some catching up to do in his classes, but he’s 18 now, and I’m going to trust him).

Yes, a complete god. Oh I’m green, Radiohead are faves of mine, I almost put one up here.

I like a version of rag Medhavi by Ali Akbar khan, Two Sails on a Sound by Animal Collective, and Fare Forward Voyagers by John Fahey — except I can never got anything on paper even close to the visions I have in my head while listening to this music. I swear all other arts labor in envy and in the shadow of music.

Liked that Noah. Yes, Nikhil, you do have good taste
Peter, I didn’t know any of the three, so am listening to the Fahey live on youtube and it is exceptional, dancing strings, so thanks for that.

Always fun to listen in with you Jo — I can just picture you writing away in a jam session
